Welcome to my website. My name is Dustin Hendricks and I am a software engineer who specializes in Javascript and PHP. I have been using both for my day job at Multiple Organics since 2009, where I have built a full ERP system as a solo engineer. I have also worked on a host of other projects using various languages and technologies over the past 25 years. My other loves include writing, painting, and music composition. I've left some links below.
I created a video game company in 2013 called Last Life Games. I had been making games as a hobby for a long time using technologies like Flash, Director, and Unity 3D, but finally decided to try to make something commercial in my spare time. I created two games with the help of freelance artists and audio professionals. More details, including trailers, can be found on the game company's website by clicking the above link.
I was looking to create some example work to show people my competence with React and Redux, and at the same time I had recently read an article about political campaigns using scraped Facebook data to match with voter data in order to gain a campaigning edge. I wanted to know how much data was publicly available for campaigns to scrape. This lead me to create a React-Redux app that displays scraped Facebook data with some light analysis. For more details click the above link.
I have created many websites over the years. My latest design work however would be for my day job at Multiple Organics. The site was created using PHP and some light JQuery. It uses a MySQL database to build the product pages. Using SEO optimization, we are on the first page of Google for a number of targeted search terms. You can see the site and check out the source by clicking the above link.
This twitter account is controlled by a NodeJS application I created. It generates random lyrics using reverse Markov chains, syllable counting, and a rhyme dictionary. It is trained (currently) using text from the top 100 hip hop lyrics, but I believe it could be used with other genres. If you tweet at it with a single word, it will try to create a lyric that rhymes with that word. You can view the source code on my GitHub, or click the above link to view the account in action.
I wrote and drew a web comic called Knights of the Table for about 20 weeks to practice drawing in Procreate as well as joke writing. The web comic centers around a group of friends who play Dungeons and Dragons, and plays with switching between the fantasy game world and the players real world table top antics. You can check out the comic by clicking the above link.
I occasionally like to do digital painting in my spare time using and IPad Pro with a stylus and Procreate. You can check out some of my latest paintings and illustrations by clicking the above link.
